Day 4 – Ephesians 1v3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Today Paul gives us three named blessings in this verse that we are to take to heart.  Firstly God our Father is to be blessed since He is the One from Whom all blessings come; as James 1v17 states, every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.  He is after all the Father Who sent us the most precious gift of all, His Son, to be the propitiation (full payment) for our sins.  Because of this revelation the same apostle writes in Romans 8v32, He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?  Therefore God the Father is rightly the first focus of our blessing today.

Secondly we are ones blessed because we in turn have become the focus of the Father’s blessing.  WE ARE BLESSED – this truth should vastly outweigh what anyone else may think or say about us.  The fact that WE ARE BLESSED is the truth that should be our declaration before each day, no matter what the day may bring we start at a point of strength.  Now this blessing is not derived from what we do, but from who we are – children of the Most High God.  Before one thing, good or bad happens to us today we must start with this truth firmly rooted in our minds that WE ARE BLESSED – we are the focus of GOD’s attention today!

Now some of us may not feel very blessed right now, there may even be circumstances in our lives that would seem to indicate that we are anything but blessed!  But that is precisely why we are blessed, because today we have the opportunity to walk in FAITH, to say that we are not going to allow those circumstances to define our day, we are going to choose to agree with God’s WORD over every challenge and declare – WE ARE BLESSED – that is our position today!

What is more is the fact that we are blessed because WE ARE LOVED.  If our identity, the way we think about ourselves, the way we even perceive what others think or say about us is anything other than the fact that we are unconditionally loved of God, then we are on shifting sand.  Our identity is not based on our past or the words of others; it is based on the WORD that today tells us we are in Christ, that is our position, the safest most secure place in the universe.  We are in Christ therefore we are LOVED, we are CHOSEN and we are BLESSED!

Lastly there is the blessedness of the spiritual blessings themselves. Where do these blessings come from? From heaven; the place of God’s domain, the Father’s throne, the place where Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  So anything that comes from this very REAL place must be GOOD!  These blessings are future tense because the fullness of them will be realised when we see Him face to face, as He is.  But they are also present tense because the foretaste of these good things is available to us now. What are these spiritual blessings?  They are the promises of God!  It is only for us to read His WORD, and allow His promises to be quickened to our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit so that they can then be released into our lives.  We are already qualified to receive these blessings because of who we are – in Christ; the access to these blessings is therefore so simple – it is by FAITH IN GOD’S WORD.  So as we read God’s WORD let us allow the Holy Spirit to quicken this very verse to us today and rejoice in the provision of these three wonderful blessings.

OUR PRAYER TODAY

BLESSED be the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, who has BLESSED US with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenly places IN CHRIST.

AMEN AND AMEN
